ART SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT DIVORCE: A Waste Audit

A thought provoking art show, with intelligent, quirky pieces made entirely from the waste created by one family over six months, as they slowly imploded. From the chaos of divorce, textile artist and upcycler Leah Price creates offbeat art from the unwanted, unloved, discarded trash of life: a goodbye to 3642 West Tenth Avenue and hello to unlimited possibilities.

Art show runs in her home days before changing hands to its new owner: Thursday, July 28 to Saturday, July 30 from 4–9pm at 3642 West Tenth Avenue (close to Alma). Admission is by donation, with proceeds to the Foundation for PraderWilli Research; refreshments will be served.

Leah is a textile artist, certified Master Recycler and board member of Our Social Fabric, a non-profit group that diverts textiles from landfill into the hands of local creators. Leah teaches zero waste sewing lessons from her home in Vancouver, where she lives with her two wonderful children. She spends her free time gardening, writing, taking photos, melting plastic and occasionally speaking about the intersection of parenting special needs, reusing abandoned materials and sewing.
